Proverbs 21:2-3Notes from the Pastor's Desk #notesfromthepastorsdesk
📖Proverbs 21:2-3 (ESV) Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart. 3 To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. 📘Pastor's Note: In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it's easy to become preoccupied with external actions and appearances. We often judge ourselves and others based on outward deeds, forgetting that there's something far more significant at play—the condition of the heart. These verses serve as a powerful reminder that while we may justify our actions in our own eyes, it is ultimately the heart that God examines. Our intentions, motives, and the sincerity behind our deeds hold far more weight in the eyes of the divine than mere outward observance of rituals or sacrifices. So, what does it mean for the Lord to "weigh the heart"? It speaks to the depth of our character, the purity of our intentions, and the alignment of our actions with His divine will. It's a call to introspection, urging us to examine the state of our hearts before God. In a world that often prioritizes outward success and achievement, these verses challenge us to shift our focus inward. They prompt us to consider whether our actions are driven by a genuine desire for righteousness and justice or by self-interest and pride. Moreover, the emphasis on righteousness and justice underscores the importance of living a life that reflects God's values. It's not enough to go through the motions of religious observance; true worship involves living in accordance with God's principles and actively seeking to promote justice and righteousness in our communities. At its core, Proverbs 21:2-3 teaches us that authenticity matters. It's not about putting on a show for others or ticking boxes to fulfill religious obligations. Instead, it's about cultivating a heart that is sincere, compassionate, and aligned with God's purposes. As we navigate the complexities of life, let us remember the profound truth encapsulated in these verses: what truly matters is not the outward facade we present to the world, but the condition of our hearts before the Lord. May we strive to cultivate hearts that are pleasing to Him, seeking righteousness and justice in all that we do. 🙏I'm praying for you always. ❤️ Pastor Jamie Read the Chapter: https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2021&version=ESV Learn more about us: www.mygpchurch.com/whoweare See More Notes by Visiting www.mygpchurch.com/notesfromthepastorsdesk #notesfromthepastorsdesk #thegpchurch #Truth #seek #study #serve #mygpchurch Matthew 24:7-14 (ESV)Notes From the Pastor's Desk #notesfromthepastorsdesk
📖Matthew 24:7-14 (ESV) 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. 9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake. 10 And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. 11 And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. 12 And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come 📘Pastor's Note: The beginning of birth pains. We are closer today to the end than we were yesterday. Reading these words from Jesus to His disciples and looking at the gross sinfulness going on in the world, we can’t help but know that the time is nearer. Come, Lord Jesus, come. 🙏I'm praying for you always. ❤️God Bless! Then why preach the message of the Gospel to those who are unwilling to believe, see, or hear? Because we are told to. For those unwilling to open up their hearts to the Truth, it is a message of judgment. But for those of us who believe, it is the grace of God unto salvation. Our objective is the message we carry. It’s God’s work to change hearts. 🙏I'm praying for you always. ❤️God Bless! 📖Hebrews 1:3 (ESV) He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 📘Pastor's Note: What a glorious description of Jesus! He glows with the radiance of the glory of God. Like the sun, which is the source from which light radiates to Earth, Jesus is the source from which the glory of God radiates to all mankind. He is the EXACT imprint of His nature. This speaks to Jesus’ deity. He IS God! And the universe is upheld by the word of His power. How perfectly written and described! He holds everything together by His power. So bright, so brilliant is the radiance of His glory. Like the childhood song we used to sing, “He holds the whole world in His hands!” He is, as Hebrews 12:2 says, “the founder and perfecter of our faith.” Oh God, how glorious you are! 🙏I'm praying for you always. ❤️God Bless! 📖1 Timothy 1:15-17 (ESV) 15 The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. 16 But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. 17 To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. 📘Pastor's Note: I thank God for giving us human examples like the Apostle Paul. Before his encounter with the Risen Lord, he was a self-righteous persecutor of those who followed Jesus. But God changed his heart of stone to a heart of flesh! Such examples are an encouragement to me. Some of the smallest words carry the biggest meaning. But my Savior is rich in mercy! Thank you, Jesus, for the "buts" in scripture. My heart rejoices that His mercy runs deep for sinners such as me! Our praise can never match the worthiness of His glorious mercy and patience that He has bestowed upon us! 🙏I'm praying for you always. ❤️God Bless! 📖Proverbs 19:20 (ESV) Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future. 📘Pastor's Note: Surrounding oneself with people of Christian character, of integrity that will lovingly advise you to walk faithfully with the Lord...comes with many blessings. 📖Proverbs 17:3 (NIV) The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the heart. 📘Pastor's Note: In the tapestry of life, where do we place our faith? What holds the greatest significance in the depths of our hearts? These questions resonate profoundly when we ponder the wisdom found in Proverbs 17:3: "The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the heart." This verse evokes imagery of refinement and purification. In ancient times, precious metals were subjected to intense heat to remove impurities and reveal their true worth. Similarly, the Lord, in His infinite wisdom, tests the very core of our being – our hearts. But what exactly does this mean for us? At its essence, this verse calls for us to examine ourselves. It urges us to examine what truly matters in our lives. Is our faith in the Lord, the cornerstone, upon which everything else rests? Do we prioritize His will above all else? These questions beckon us to explore the depths of our convictions and the sincerity of our devotion. In a world filled with distractions and competing priorities, it's easy to lose sight of what's truly important. We may find ourselves chasing after wealth, success, self, sexual immorality, earthly possessions, or fleeting pleasures, only to discover that these pursuits leave us empty and unfulfilled. However, when our lives are anchored in Christ Jesus, we discover the source of enduring strength and purpose. Faith isn't merely a set of beliefs or rituals; it's a supernaturally transformed heart that changes our thoughts, actions, and priorities. It's about entrusting our lives to the guiding hand of a loving Creator who knows us intimately and desires the very best for us. When we place our faith in Christ, He aligns us with His divine purpose, finding peace and fulfillment in His promises and presence. Yet, the journey of faith isn't always easy. It will cost us. Like the refining process for precious metals, it often involves moments of trial and testing. Challenges may arise that may shake us to our core, may challenge our faith, causing us to question and doubt. But it's in these moments that we see the reality of our faith, refined, strengthened, and deepened. Ultimately, Proverbs 17:3 reminds us that our heart for Jehovah is the true measure of our faith. It's not about outward appearances or religious observance but about the sincerity and authenticity of our relationship with God. As we allow Him to purify our hearts and mold us according to His will, we discover the abundant life He promises to those who trust in Jesus. So, as we journey through life's highs and lows, may we never lose sight of the precious gift of faith. May we continually seek to align our hearts with God's word and purposes, knowing that He alone is the source of true fulfillment and joy. And may we embrace the refining process, trusting that through every trial, our faith emerges stronger and more radiant, like pure gold tested in the furnace. 🙏I'm praying for you always. ❤️God Bless! 📖Psalm 23:4 (NIV) I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 📘Pastor's Note: If God is for us, who can be against us? We need not fear evil. We live in evil times where sin is celebrated instead of being mourned over. Depravity is all around. Innocent children torn from the wombs of women, men lying with men, corrupt government leadership, people seeking self and worldly pleasure, murder, strife, malice…the list goes on and on. Yet we need not fear, brethren…our Lord remains enthroned and our time draws nearer. Find peace from the hope we have in Christ Jesus. One day, the lion will lie down with the lamb. One day, sin will be no more. What a glorious day that will be when we are in the presence of our Lord. Until then…fear not! For He is with us, His rod and staff comfort us! Blessings 🙏I'm praying for you always. ❤️God Bless! 📖Job 42:1-6 (ESV) Then Job answered the Lord and said: 2 “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted. 3 ‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’ Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, things too wonderful for me, which I did not know. 4 ‘Hear, and I will speak; I will question you, and you make it known to me.’ 5 I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you; 6 therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes.” 📘Pastor's Note: What a blessing it is to have our eyes opened so that we can see truth! 📖Acts 4:13 (ESV) Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus. 📘Pastor's Note: God uses unschooled, ordinary men who walk with Jesus! A PHD is not required…as a matter of fact, in our weaknesses, He is more glorified because it demonstrates His strength. How precious and gracious He is to lowly man for His Name sake!
